As their lives, literally "hang" on the side of the mountain, each person is forced to put their minds on the "forgotten, neglected things" in their imaginations and must come to terms with their individual familial "secrets" in order to finally make peace with themselves. Nick wants to win the Marathon even if it kills him, Mo wants to immigrate to Africa in the aftermath of a famous Boston shooting, and Jodi feels the use of a turkey baster will get her ultimately what she wants in life. |

The play deals with concepts ofgoodness and greatness,the nature of madness - and with important differences in the way that men and women view their purpose in the world. |
