Inaugural Season - 2004 / 2005

Starfxxker

Written by Jill Campbell

Directed by John Thurner

A young girl (France) tries to touch a star and gets burned, It's about the loss of the American Dream to sensationalism and celebrity. What happens when the American dream (suburban house, yearly vacation, two cars) of past generations is achieved? What's left? What's the new dream for the youth of America? Celebrity: the elite private society that holds a solid gold key to the world. This play is about a generation with a lack of focus. It's about a society where dysfunction has become the norm, because its foundations are composed of commercialism, self-absorption and superficiality. It's about a bored generation of 'twenty something's' who lack direction; who lack any connection to others. France is the product of a society that worships celebrity, because they've lost their faith in each other and what connects the individual to the world.
